The VFX-O-Bot
Martin Oberg
Project info
This was the winning entry in the Swedish Modo User Group render contest. I've pasted the project description below.
"Tired of UV-mapping or other tedious VFX tasks? Let the VFX-O-Bot do them for you!
This is my submission to the SmUG render contest. I had a hard time coming up with any good ideas but everyone loves robots right? I wanted to do something not car related for a change as well.
It's also a bit political considering the state of the VFX industry where VFX workers aren't always seen as human beings. The green screen eyes are of course a nod to all the VFX workers out there.
The modeling was pretty straight forward using Pixar SubD's and I wanted to focus more on the scene rather than just a model. I actually modeled all of him but I liked this close up angle for the final shot. I will probably post a render later showing more of the robot.
I had pretty high res render going but looking at the estimated time and time left to the challenge deadline made me abort it and start a preview render going for as long as I dared.
I feel pretty much like the poor guy himself right now. :)
...oh, and that's not coffee, it's motor oil."
