Project info
This is another view of a model I made for Wired Magazine. It shows (With some exaggeration in the depth/height) the North Pole as it might appear without water. The story in Wired was about how Global Warming has charged the rush to exploit the now exposed resources laying under the sea floor at the pole. The image was made from data secured from the US Geologic Survey and Paul Morin of the USGS. Displacement mapping in Modo along with the excellent texture and rendering quality makes images like this easy to produce. It also allows for a great exploration when making images, making it easy to get the right shot and composition.
