Project info
This artwork was made following the tutorial "Master Car Creation in Blender". I was modeling in Foundry Modo though.
The purpose of passing this tutorial was to learn to model complex curved shapes with cutouts on them while maintaining perfect reflections. The workflow of making these shapes is such: you first create perfect shape without cutouts and then you duplicate it make cutouts and subdivide and project onto the first mesh. The tutorial author used quite unoptimized way of this workflow - I've automatized it thanks to modo procedural modeling and released free car panel meshOp free for everyone! You can find it on Gumroad:

Yes, the renders are not perfect because I wanted to focus more on modeling, and I don't know yet whether I'll choose gamedev or production. I also planned to make more shots but Modo is relatively slow, and making any changes to a scene was quite hard.
Big thanks to Volker Troy from PixelWerk for technical help with making the metallic flakes car paint shader.
